The Providence Community Library is seeking a full time Library Supervisor to manage the operation of three or more neighborhood libraries. This includes developing and implementing a program of services which includes reference and information services as well as a variety of programs for adults and children. He/she may also review and select library materials for addition to the library collection, and works with librarians and staff at other neighborhood libraries to develop library services. The Library Supervisor also provides direct service to patrons.
The Library Supervisor is the Providence Community Library’s liaison with the local community, and a key player in creating and sustaining positive relationships. He/she is expected to develop collections and services which are responsive to community needs and a staff which is dedicated to outstanding customer service. He or she is expected to establish productive relationships with community groups and agencies, and to develop and implement a range of library services which are tailored to the needs of the neighborhood.
Neighborhood library service provides a librarian with a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the community. Library Supervisors meet and get to know a wide variety of people, and to help them by providing an essential service. Strong interest in others and a desire to make a difference are essential for success, as are a high degree of organization, good communication skills, and supervisory abilities.
Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited program. Five years of professional library experience which includes supervisory management experience with at least 3 years in a public library setting. English/Spanish Bilingual Preferred. Outside applicants must be willing to undergo a BCI check.

Duties
Providence Community Library is searching for a Children’s Librarian to work in a regional library. The Children’s Librarian plans and implements a comprehensive program of service to young library users, and may provide professional support to two neighborhood libraries.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: selecting and purchasing library materials aimed at children and youth, planning, developing, coordinating and executing programs designed to serve children from toddlers to teens; providing reader’s advisory and reference assistance to parents, teachers and caregivers to develop pre-literacy and literacy skills to children; assisting patrons, particularly children and youth, in researching information on a wide variety of subjects, acting as liaison with other agencies in the community serving children to promote the library; creating an environment in the children’s area which provides for enjoyable and productive use of library resources.
Qualifications
MLS from an ALA accredited school is required, solid experience as a Children’s Librarian preferred. Spanish speaking is a plus.

The Providence Community Library is looking for temp. staff to perform clerical duties and be on-call to work in any of our nine neighborhood libraries.
Duties include: patron registration, checkout, check-in, shelving materials, providing directional assistance to phone inquiries, and assist with clerical duties in other departments as needed. A high school diploma and a good customer service attitude are required; familiarity with Millennium is preferred.
The position pays $12.14 per hour.

Providence Community Library is looking for temp staff to perform custodial duties and be on-call to work in any of our nine neighborhood libraries and offices.
Duties include: dust shelves, furniture and fixtures, sweep, dry mop and vacuum floors; empty waste baskets and discard other materials; clean rest rooms and staff lounges; replace paper goods; soap and other toilet articles.
As needed: strip and wax floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets; window cleaning; sweep and clean stairwells and elevators; clean excessive dirt brought into the buildings due to inclement weather; shovel snow and clear steps, walkways, and sidewalks during and after snowstorms; set up and break down meeting rooms for library events as they occur; outdoor care of library grounds; other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school graduation or equivalent and some experience cleaning commercial buildings preferred. Must speak and read English. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., and must be physically able to push, lift, bend, stoop, kneel, and work with repetitive motions. Driver’s license and a BCI check are required. Must own vehicle for short travel between buildings.
