Duties: Provides direct services to the children at the Washington Park Library. He or she develops and implements a variety of literacy-based programs and activities to engage children. Programs are developed in cooperation with the library manager, as well as other children’s librarians and specialists. Other responsibilities include assisting children with use of the library for information and homework; and assisting children in selecting appropriate books for borrowing. The Children’s Specialist also assists with the daily operation of the library and may oversee daily routines such as circulation, patron registration, shelving, etc.
Requirements: Bachelors degree required. Library experience and a minimum of one year experience working with children preferred.

Adult Services Librarian L-1, Rochambeau Library

Salary: $19.19 per hour.

Duties: Responsible for the direct provision of services to the adult users of the Rochambeau Community Library. Primary duties include the provision of reference and readers advisory assistance, collection development, and adult programs.
The Adult Services Librarian participates in the development of library service at the library as well as in community outreach activity and clerical supervision. Coverage at other libraries as needed.
Requirements: MLS from and ALA accredited library school. A strong background in programming and in bibliographic instruction is preferred.
