Details of our annual Story-Writing Contest for Bilingual Young Authors are now available! Children ages 6-12 are invited to write and illustrate an original story, turn it into a real book and submit it to our Latino Program Coordinator, Carolina Briones, by April 15. To help children complete their entries, PCL will offer a writing workshop (March 12) and an illustration workshop (March 19) from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Knight Memorial, presented by children’s author and illustrator Cathren Housley. A bookbinding workshop, presented by artist Lisa May (thanks to funding from Newport Art Museum) will take place March 26 from 10:30am-12:30pm at Mount Pleasant. Contest winners will receive their prizes at the El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Día) celebration on Saturday, April 30. More information and complete contest guidelines are available here and on flyers at our library locations.
