Students, friends, families and staff gathered on Saturday, June 16 to celebrate the achievements of the 24 students, ranging in age from 17 to 64, who have completed PCL's award-winning Spanish language GED preparation program.
Students received citations from both PCL and Mayor Jorge Elorza, who presented his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class, which included Rosario Pren (pictured below with some of her family). At 63 years old with three children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, Rosario gave an inspiring talk about the fact that it’s never too late to can accomplish anything, no matter your age, race, or circumstances. Not surprisingly, Rosario's family is extremely proud of her accomplishment!
The achievements of the GED Class of 2018 would not have been possible without the work of PCL literacy teacher Hipolito Reyes, technology tutor Emilia, Latino Program Coordinator Carolina Briones and Program Development and Community Relations Coordinator, Michelle Novello. The GED in Spanish program goes from strength to strength!
