Living Literature presents The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas - Plus Potluck!

May 15, 2018 - 10:51am -- jfuentes

Thursday, May 17 6:00PM - 8:30PM
Rochambeau Library

Living Literature has created a 60 minute readers' theatre presentation of Angie Thomas' award winning novel, The Hate U Give, which is this year's selected book for Reading Across Rhode Island. The story is presented by four actors.

The dramatization depicts what prejudice looks like in the 21st century. Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she was born and raised and her private high school in the suburbs. The uneasy balance between them is shattered when Starr is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend.

Living Literature is a collective of Rhode Island based artists and educators creating readers’ theatre- style presentations to dramatize non dramatic writing, using only the author’s words, allowing the audience to experience the events and characters of the story in an unique way.

Join us at Rochambeau Library for a potluck supper at 6 pm; the performance begins at 7pm. Contact Lee for more information.
