Jazz Concert - by the Original Mango Trio!

If you love jazz and know the local jazz scene, you won't want to miss this concert! Come listen to some cool jazz performed by the Roots Cultural Center's original Mango Trio of Mibbit Threats, Zeffro Gianetti, and Richard Hundley. Renowned storyteller and friend of PCL, Len Cabral, who founded the legendary Roots Cafe in Providence, will be on hand to give some history and perspective about the Cafe.

On May 29, former PCL Board member Almas Kalafian spoke at the Memorial Day Remembrance for Survivors of the 1915 Armenian Genocide at the Armenian Heritage Park on Douglas Avenue. In her address, Almas recognized the Smith Hill Library for “providing Armenians with Educational, Cultural, and Social Excellence” for nearly a century:

You Can Make a Difference for Libraries in Rhode Island!

Around the first week in June, the Rhode Island General Assembly will make final decisions on the state budget for the next fiscal year. The proposed budget level funds the state's allocation to public libraries across the state and libraries are currently receiving less than the minimum 25 percent of their city or town's allocation for library support called for by state law. We want to raise the state funding to that minimum 25 percent level, and we need your support in persuading the Assembly to do so.
