PCL Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 to October 15. As usual, PCL will be celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of people whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. PCL is marking this special special month with diverse programs at several locations.

At Mount Pleasant Library:

Fall Hat Celebration!  
Come and join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!  Learn about different styles of hats! Make and design your own fabulous vogue hat using newspaper, tissue paper and other materials.

Latin American Arts & Crafts from Around the Globe! 
Making and decorate traditional crafts from Latin America: tissue paperflowers, maracas, masks, and other fun crafts.

Bachata, Salsa, Merengue Dance Demonstration and Food Fiesta Celebration!   
Move your feet, swing your hip, and move your body dancing the upbeat of Bachata, Salsa, and Merengue!  We will also have a variety of delicious Latin classic foods such as rice and beans, tostadas, and other great recipes for everyone to enjoy! (All ages welcome!)

Respect Yourself, Respect Ourselves
Bilingual Storytelling ~ Taller de narrativa bilingüe
Presented in partnership with Project Crisol, this is our first annual
bilingual storytelling workshop series for aspiring young writers aged 6-12. Participants will be
coached in crafting and telling stories in compelling ways and in listening to each other’s stories in a respectful way.
