On Tuesday, May 18, the State of Rhode Island announced changes to its guidance about wearing masks. Providence Community Library reviewed its internal policy and determined that both library users and library staff should continue to wear face masks at Providence Community Library - both inside and outside - for the time being.
Providence Community Library welcomes many school-age students, as well as families with preschool age children, into its library spaces. Students ages 12-17 have only recently become eligible to receive the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine, and, at this time, no vaccine is available for younger children at all. By continuing to wear a mask at the library, you will help protect children and their families and also support a temporary policy that is fully in line with that of the Providence Public School District. We will continue to revise that policy in these fast-changing times.
We encourage everyone who is eligible but who has not yet been vaccinated to book an appointment at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Our library staff can help you find and book an appointment and you can even get your shots at some Providence Community Library locations.
