Rappel for PCL was, no surprise, an amazing day. Fifty brave Edgers went OverThe Edge and, to date, $71,535 has been raised for PCL!
Thankfully, the weather behaved itself and the crowd was able to to enjoy a full day's rappelling at the Regency Plaza as well as visit activities at the PCL mobile library and Rock Spot Climbing's mobile climbing wall. Many registered Edgers beat their fundraising targets, and impressive totals were reached by local leaders such as Councilwoman Nirva LaFortune ($2,415) State Rep Grace Diaz ($1,450) and Chief of Staff to the RI Secretary of State, Gonzalo Cuervo ($1,850). Several PCL employees rappelled and library Friends groups rallied to support their local champions. Every Edger successfully completed the task - even those afraid of heights!
Our grateful thanks go to the professional team at Over The Edge Global, who kept everyone safe as they worked in an unobtrusive but highly efficient way, assisted by a group of excellent, local ropes volunteers. A large group of general volunteers took on other tasks, making sure that everyone was where they should be. The staff of the Regency Plaza/Chestnut Hill Realty were helpful and hospitable and FOUR of their staff really got behind the event by rappelling themselves!
