Getting vaccinated is at the top of many people's minds in Providence but the process of getting an appointment, even for eligible residents, can be a difficult one. Last month, PCL staff started to assist the City of Providence in the critical task of getting residents signed up for appointments at Providence COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics and at certain retail clinic sites serving hard-hit communities in Providence zipcodes. We're offering testing, too.
Residents who are eligible for shots but need extra assistance to navigate the online sign-up process can call any PCL library location during scheduled hours and a member of staff will input information into the online system on their behalf and schedule an appointment. Several library locations have staff who can also assist callers in Spanish.
Additionally, COVID testing is available at PCL every Tuesday and Friday 11am-2pm in the parking lot area of Smith Hill Library. No appointment is necessary and there is ample street parking.People who take the 15-minute rapid test at Smith Hill Library can view their results online at portal.ri.gov/covidtestresults/s.
More help with appointments and testing will be coming soon. PCL will continue to post updates about eligibility requirements to its website and to its social media pages, including a new, dedicated Facebook page for Spanish speakers, Conectando Nuestra Gente. Up-to-date information is always available on the City of Providence’s Vaccinate Providence page.
