SAVE THE DATE: Over the Edge for PCL

November 26, 2018 - 4:31pm -- jfuentes

We had an incredible time on June 23 when 32 fearless people went Over the Edge and rappelled down the 12-story Regency Paza apartments to raise money for PCL. Next year, we'll be doing it again - and you can join us!

Everyone who went Over the Edge for PCL reported that it was a truly memorable "bucket list" experience and several of them are all set to rappel again! So keep this date free: Saturday, May 4, 2019. More details coming soon!

Reusable Bag Swaps at PCL Locations

October 17, 2018 - 1:14pm -- jfuentes

Did you know that 100 billion plastic bags pass through the hands of U.S. consumers every year—almost one bag per person each day? Laid end-to-end, they could circle the equator 1,330 times!

PCL is playing a small part in the effort to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags by hosting Reeusable Bag Swap stations on behalf of the Zero Waste Providence working group.

Use this guide to make sure that the kids in your life don't miss out on any of the seasonal fun!

A Warm Welcome to New PCL Staff!

October 16, 2018 - 5:17pm -- jfuentes

The PCL family is growing!

We have new library managers at our Olneyville, South Providence and Washington Park locations. Congratulations, also, to Gale Yallop, who became manager of Knight Memorial Library as part of her new role as PCL systems coordinator. Other recent appointments include new adult reference and youth services librarians at Mount Pleasant and Rochambeau, respectively.

So, let's meet everyone!

Joseph Morra - Library Manager, Olneyville

Donate Warm Clothing for Neighbors in Need!

October 15, 2018 - 7:23pm -- jfuentes

As the days turn colder, you can make a positive difference for neighbors who may not have sufficient warm clothing for the winter by supporting the annual Buy Nothing Day Coat Exchange. Please check your closets and bring your new and gently used coats, scarves, hats, gloves, sweaters and sweatshirts and deposit them in the donation boxes at PCL locations by November 19.  Your donations will be taken to an event on the State House lawn on Friday, November 23 and given to folks who really need them! Last year, generous PCL library users filled forty large donation boxes!
