Presented by a Brown University Professor Kevin Escudero and his students, these engaging workshops tackle some of the most challenging and topical issues that we face in today's America. What is it like to experience life from the perspective of a new or recent immigrant, whose presence is often challenged? What happens when a person's cultural heritage is ignored - or even denied? And what can we do to examine our feelings and attitudes to bring positive change in the city of Providence?

Sharing Maker Space Creativity at WaterFire's First-Ever Tech Night!

On Saturday, September 8, PCL Library Director Cheryl Space, Digital Services Manager Stephanie Shea and IT Manager David Sok headed to downtown Providence to take part in WaterFire's Tech Night! The staff joined FabNewport to showcase the PVD Young Makers Initiative, a creative partnership with the City of Providence & Mayor Jorge Elorza, Providence Public Library, Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art (RIMOSA) & Young Voices that has brought maker spaces into all ten PVD public library spaces.

Free Jazz Concert with Greg Abate

A gifted and critically acclaimed saxophonist, flutist,composer and recording artist, Greg was inducted into the RI Hall of Fame in 2016.  Greg is an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Studies at Rhode Island College and an active jazz clinician who conducts workshops and master classes throughout the United States and Europe. Greg's quartet features Ben Cook on piano, Todd Baker on bass and Gary Johnson on drums.
