Our biggest ever program of Money Smart workshops concludes this week! The wide-ranging financial literacy presentations have attracted almost 400 people to date, confirming the fact that you are never too old - or too young - to learn more about money matters.

New Spanish Pre-GED Summer Program

Patrons who need a little extra study time and assistance before beginning Spanish language GED preparation classes in the Fall now have the option to enroll in a "pre-GED" course over the summer. The free classes will run between June 26 and August 30 at Olneyville and South Providence Libraries. Classes will meet on Mondays 5:00 - 7:00PM and Tuesdays 9:30AM- 11:30AM at South Providence and Mondays 10:00AM -11:30AM and Wednesdays 5:00PM -7:00PM at Olneyville.

Dhana Receives Librarian Award

Dhana Whiteing, Regional Library Manager at Mount Pleasant Library, received the Established Alumni of the Year Award on April 21 from the Harrington School of Communication and Media at URI GSLIS. She received her award for outstanding contributions to the field of library and information studies. 

Dia Day Salutes Bilingual Story Contest Winners!

Forty-eight budding young writers submitted original, illustrated entries for this year's bilingual story writing contest  in two age categories: 6-8 years and 9-12 years. First prize went to Isobel Lewis for her story The Musician/El músico (6-8 years) and Jasper Hoefferl for The Adventures of Geronimo the Llama/Las aventuras de Geronimo la Llama (9-12 years).

PPS Festival's Pre-Event Party to Benefit Knight Memorial

Providence Preservation Society’s Festival of Historic Houses is a highlight of Rhode Island's event calendar and grants access to properties that are not usually open to the public. This year's festival focuses on the opulent architecture of the Upper Elmwood Historic District. Knight Memorial Library, itself one of the architectural jewels of the district, is very much involved in this year's Festival and will receive a portion of the funds raised at the Festival's pre-event party.
