On the faded Island Books sign hanging over the porch of the Victorian cottage is the motto "No Man Is an Island; Every Book Is a World." A. J. Fikry, the irascible owner, is about to discover just what that truly means.

I have never read a book where I smiled at least once, even chuckled, on just about every page...or one that not even a chapter in, I lamented the book ending.

Book lovers will love the many great literary references and comments on books and writing; as will those who enjoy stories about humans dealing with human stuff: grief, death, hope, life, love...really can't say enough about it.

A.J. Fikry, the protagonist, said it best: 'Every word the right one and exactly where it should be. That's basically the highest compliment I can give.' I wonder if the author knew some readers would be saying the same of this book! I certainly do.
