Arte, activismo y prácticas ancestrales.

En este taller y círculo de historias exploramos la conexión que existe entre nuestras prácticas ancestrales, las artes y el proceso creativo y cómo nuestras culturas se organizan hacia la acción cívica. Tendremos una corta presentación, compartiremos práctica y conocimiento y haremos una visualización colectiva de lo que significan estas prácticas para nosotres. Este taller es en español.

Shey Rivera Ríos es artista interdisciplinar, estratega cultural y gerente artístico. Sus creaciones abordan una amplia gama temática, desde el sentimiento de hogar al capitalismo, queerness y magia. Rivera Ríos lideró la co-dirección artística de AS2220, una reconocida organización para la educación y las artes e incubador creativo en Providence, RI. Tras 8 años trabajando en AS220, Rivera asumió el cargo de Director of Inclusive Regional Development en MIT CoLab, en el departamento de Urban Studies and Planning de MIT, donde co-diseñó e implementó talleres sobre liderazgo colectivo e innovación comunitaria en Colombia. En la actualidad, Rivera es artista independiente y realiza consultoría en el campo de gestion artística y la intersección de la cultura y la planificación urbana.

Art, activism and ancestral practices.

In this workshop and circle of stories we will explore the connection that exists between our ancestral practices, the arts and the creative process and how our cultures organize themselves towards civic action. We will have a short presentation, share practice and knowledge, and create a collective visualization of what these practices mean to us. IN SPANISH.
 

Shey Rivera Ríos is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, and arts administrator. Their artistic creations span a myriad of topics, from home to capitalism to queerness and magic; also former Artistic/Co-Director of AS220, a renowned arts organization and creative incubator in Providence, RI. After 8 years at AS220, Rivera took on the role of Director of Inclusive Regional Development at MIT CoLab, in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning of MIT, where they co-designed and implemented workshops on collective leadership and community innovation in Colombia. Today, Rivera is an independent artist and consultant specializing in arts management and the intersection of culture and urban planning.

Feria del Libro y las Artes de Providence 2021 is presented by Providence Community Library and Providence College, with event partners Rhode Island Center for the Book and Pawtucket Public Library.
