This spring the Rochambeau library will be partnering with the Metamorphosis Youth Dance Program to offer a Creative Movement class on Saturday afternoons from 1:15 - 2:00 PM.

The Creative Movement class is an introduction to movement, imagination, and music for ages 3-6. Students will learn foundational ballet and modern dance concepts through guided imagination and movement exercises. They are encouraged to think "outside the box” through positivity, patience, and exploration.

The class will be led by Holly Taylor. Holly is a Creative Movement, Ballet, Modern, and Composition instructor at Metamorphosis Youth Dance Program. Her background includes modern, ballet, gaga, and postmodern dance. She has trained with Trisha Brown Dance Company and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, performed in original works by Matthew Rushing and Saar Harar, and is published in PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art (MIT Press), and the Yale Dance Theater Journal. Holly has exhibited at AS220’s Resident Gallery and received her B.A. in American Studies from Yale University.

This class does require registration. Drop-ins will be accomodated if there is space. To sign up, please call the Rochambeau Library Children's desk at 401-272-3780 X4402.

Metamorphosis Dance Youth Program aims to facilitate artistic development and exploration in dance for ages 3+. Our mission is to provide healthy and functional technical training in partnership with student choreography and composition. Our classes have a strong focus on technique, creativity, and individuality. Our students are especially interested in site-specific dance and composition. For more information visit their website here.
