Through family papers, wills, heirlooms, and published historical accounts from David and Robert Ottobah Barclay’s direct descendants, more than two and a half centuries of history unfold from the 18th century Trans-Atlantic trade from the West African coast and the slave plantations of Jamaica, to the formations of free African heritage communities in early America. More importantly, it puts a human face on the history of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the far reaching benefits of coupling emancipation with reparations.
