Kids Learn to be Money Savvy at These Free April Vacation Week Workshops!

Fun Activities That Teach Financial Skills to Children as Young as Eight

Looking for something fun AND useful keep the kids busy during Spring vacation? Providence Community Library (PCL) is partnering with local experts to present workshops designed to equip young people with knowledge and skills to manage money that will be invaluable to them in the years ahead. Even preschoolers and kindergartners can join us and make a nice turtle coin bank, piggy bank or duct tape wallet to start saving those pennies! The workshops are part of a wider program of events at PCL connected to Money Smart Week, a national awareness campaign originally created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to help consumers better manage their personal finances.

Monday, April 13 to Monday, May 18: 3:30-5:30pm.

Money Matters

A six-week program, presented by Catherine Dean, MSW. Young people will learn how to stay in control of their finances, set and achieve financial goals and make smart choices that provide a better quality of life. Catherine is a licensed social worker and advocate for children/individuals/families in the development of life skills, including financial matters. Suitable for children aged eight and above. Kids who attend all six sessions of this program will receive a reward!

Money Smart Q&A Session

This special Q & A workshop, part of the six week program beginning April 13, may be attended as a one-off session and is suitable for people of all ages. Bring your questions about money management to Catherine Dean, MSW, a licensed social worker and advocate for children and families in the development of life skills.

Money Smart Week takes place April 18-25. In addition to the youth workshops, PCL will offer presentations for adults in English and Spanish by experts from the Pawtucket Credit Union, Santander Bank, Bankers Life and Casualty Company and other financial institutions.
