Learn From the Experts About Credit Scores, Mortgages, Retirement and Student Loans
PROVIDENCE,RI - Providence Community Library (PCL) is partnering with local experts to offer free financial workshops exploring how to increase a FICO score, get a mortgage, save for retirement, obtain student loans and other important life choices.  Specialists from financial institutions such as the Pawtucket Credit Union, Santander Bank, Bankers Life and Casualty Company and the Community Care Alliance will provide workshops and presentations from April 18-25 during Money Smart Week, a national awareness campaign originally created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Workshops are available in English and Spanish.
Financial literacy is a big issue for America: about 160 million people have credit cards in the U.S. and each household with a credit card carries an average of more than $15,000 in credit card debt. Together with mortgages, auto and student loans, total U.S. consumer debt currently runs at a staggering $11.4 trillion. Better understanding of money matters leads to improved financial health for both individuals and the economy as a whole.
Workshops in English:
