It’s Storycorps - but with a twist! Valerie Tutson of Rhode Island Black Storytellers will record three, 20-minute interviews before a live audience at Mount Pleasant Library on Wednesday, September 9.
Valerie’s guests will be Len Cabral, the gifted internationally acclaimed storyteller and author; Jo Ann Ryan, Councilwoman for Elmhurst, Mount Pleasant and Manton; and Sokeo Ros, the innovative Artistic Director & Choreographer of Everett Dance Company who was born in a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand and arrived in the United States at the age of three. Join us at 315, Academy Avenue, Providence from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. We’ll have live music from Paul Alexander Williams, refreshments (including beer from our sponsor, Narragansett Beer) and an evening of entertaining but thought provoking conversation.
Providence Community Library(PCL) is one of 10 public libraries nationwide to have been made a pilot site for the Storycorps@your library program. This year, PCL will record more than 40 conversations with patrons, staff, community partners and public figures based on the traditional Storycorps interview model. Do you have a story to tell? We are recording interviews through November 7.
