The Neighborhood Library System’s New Leader Brings a Wealth of Experience to His New Role
The Board of Directors of Providence Community Library (PCL) has appointed Jeffrey Cannell, MLS, as its new Library Director. The announcement follows a rigorous selection process, which involved consultation of staff at all levels of the organization. Cannell, who was most recently Deputy Commissioner of Cultural Education at New York State Education Department, will take up his post in mid-July.
As Library Director, Cannell will serve as the chief executive officer of PCL and will report to the Board of Directors. He will contribute strategic vision to PCL, act as chief spokesperson and advocate of the Library at city, state and national levels and lead the organization’s 65 staff.
The Board was impressed by Jeff’s background as an innovative manager of multi-library systems, as well as his deep understanding of how state and city government works” said Cyndie Wilmot, President of the PCL Board. “He has a very successful track record of securing funding for libraries. We are confident that Jeff is the right choice for PCL”
